The California Ocean Protection Council, in collaboration with the California Ocean Science Trust, NOAA Coastal Services Center, the Center for Ocean Solutions, and The Nature Conservancy, hosted a workshop from in August of 2009, to assess the current and potential capabilities and needs of California resource managers to manage and share geospatial data. The final report is a compendium of ideas and recommendations on geospatial data management put forward during the presentation and discussions at the workshop. The workshop brought together approximately 75 representatives of state and federal agencies, academic institutions, and nongovernmental organizations and consisted of GIS specialists, project managers, and upper-level program managers.
