UNIBEST- Uniform Beach Sediment Transport

UNIBEST (UNIform Beach Sediment Transport) is a software package which contains tools for the computation of sediment transport. The package consists of three models:

  • UNIBEST-CL+ can be used to compute sediment transport and coastline changes along uniform sandy coasts as a result of natural forces or human interference.
  • UNIBEST-DE can be used to compute dune erosion during storm events.
  • UNIBEST-TC can be used to compute cross-shore profile changes during normal conditions (e.g.

Marine Integrated Decision Analysis System (MIDAS)

The Marine Integrated Decision Analysis System (MIDAS) was developed to assist the Marine Managed Areas (MMA) users and managers in understanding the critical factors that influence MMA effects so that they can plan accordingly, to estimate likely MMA effects based on the ecological, socioeconomic and governance conditions, and finally, to advise management plan revisions that will result in optimization of outcomes and outputs.

DNDC- Denitrification Decomposition model

DNDC (i.e., DeNitrification-DeComposition) is a computer simulation model of carbon and nitrogen biogeochemistry in agro-ecosystems. The model can be used for predicting crop growth, soil temperature and moisture regimes, soil carbon dynamics, nitrogen leaching, and emissions of trace gases including nitrous oxide (N2O), nitric oxide (NO), dinitrogen (N2), ammonia (NH3), methane (CH4) and carbon dioxide (CO2).

Chesapeake Bay Ecosystem Explorer

Ecosystem Explorer for NOAA shows a more nuanced version of the standard food chain. The idea is to go beyond simple predator/prey relationships to show the ecosystem as a coherent whole, and explore the way energy (as biomass) moves through it.
